Quite attractive and very pleasantly hand-colored map of Northern Germany. A rather rare

projection with a decorative title cartouche.

Paper along plate marks was broken and supported on the reverse side.
Very professionally done. Not visible on front side.

Altenburg and Ronneburg in Thuringia, formerly belonging to the Duchy of Sachsen-Altenburg-Gotha

A Bailliage  was, in the French Ancien Regime, a political geographical area, in which a high officer was entrusted by a Duke, a Count or similar with the care-taking of all questions concerning the administration. Here: Altenburg, Thuringia = pink and Ronneburg, Thuringia = Yellow.

Hand-colored copper etching of the geographical area Borna, Saxonia, in the north, Penig, Saxonia, in the east, Weyda in the south and Gerau in the west.

Copper engraving map by Joannes Jansonius after an earlier map by Abraham Ortelius.

Published ca 1650. Attractive hand coloring. Text on reverse side in Dutch.

In the lower left corner are important topographical names at the time of Charles the Great.

This map is interestering for the study of toponymy. In the lower right is a dedication to Jacobo Monavio.

Centerfold has been flattened. Repair in upper and lower margins on centerfold.

Strong paper. Good imprint. On the reverse side are a few very old ink marks.

Anonymous copper etching. Published by Johann Blaeu in Amsterdam (1663-1665). This one with original hand coloring by Anna Beek. Published as unicum in the sense that Anna Beek hand-colored this print herself and published it in the famous Anna-Beek-Collection. The Hague, 1705

Shows Rheinberg on the river Rhine in 1601 when it was sieged during the Spanish Netherland War between 1592 and 1617 by Moritz von Oranien.

Excellent hand coloring. Very minor traces of age and use. Near excellent condition! Since there is only one such print with Anna Beek's hand coloring, it has museum quality and significance.

This map shows the early region of Nassau between Koblenz in the west and Giessen in the east. Wiesbaden is in the south and Olpe in the north. A wappen of the Nassau nobility is in the upper right corner.

Map has light age toning and some light smudgin in margins. Overall condition is Almost Very Good.

This map shows the former borders of Germany. In the upper right is part of Lithuania and in the lower right is Transyvania and part of Bulgaria. At the bottom is part of the Gulf of Venice and further right a bit of the Gulf of Genua. Above the title cartouche is Rheims in France.

Map has minor spotting in margins and is otherwise in Almost Very Good condition.

This is an extra large sea chart of the North Sea shows the coast lines of Norway from Bergen south to the Skagerrak, of the west coast of Denmark, the North Sea coast of Germany, Holland, Belgium, northern France as well as the east coast of England, Scotland plus all the islands along those coastlines , North, East and West Frisia. Quite detailed: the Orkney and Shetland Islands.

Map has general rather heavy age toning giving it patina. Upper margin has bee widened. Centerfold has been reenforced. Some worm holes along centerfold have been covered up. There are still some small worm holes left. But they are not disturbing.

Also shown: Madera, Porto Sancto, the Azore Islands, the Orkney Islands, Shetland Islands, the Faroese Islands, the Hebrides, St. Kilda, Rokol Island and the west coast of Iceland.

Map has general age toning. Upper margin is narrow.

Basel is right in the center of this 3-country region. In the upper left is part of Alsass and northern Burgundy. In the northeast, enclosed
by the Rhine river, is the Black Forest of Germany. The lower part of the map is Switzerland. The course of the rhine is from Waldshut in
the east as far north as Breisach. Notice the topographical detail on this map.

Map has light toning and a small spot in left margin. Small repaired tears in upper and lower margins on centerfold. General condition is
Almost Very Good.

This very attractive historical map of Germany was concepted after the map of Abraham Ortelius. It shows the area from the North Sea and Baltic Sea in the north to south of the alps and the Adriatic Sea in the south. In the west is Holland and the mouth of the Rhine. In the east is the Weichsel river. The towns and cities from the time of Charles the Great (8-9 centuries) are in the legend in the lower left and especially marked on the map. In the upper left is the title cartouche, in the lower right a cartouche giving mention that this map was made after one by Ortelius. Verso: Text in German.

The map has light toning and repaired tears in upper and lower margins along center fold. There is a small repaired tear in the lower right margin corner as well as small reapaired tears in upper and lower margins. In the upper part of the map is a crease along the center fold. There is a spot in upper margins and one on the lower left margin. General condition is Almost Very Good.

This very decorative, oversize map of Swabia reaches roughly from Colmar (Alsace) to Regensburg and from Rotheburg ob der Tauber to Lake Constance (and a liitle beyond).

Lower right has the decorative title cartouche, upper left a multi-mileage scale. The individual principalities are named in text above image.

Map is very clean. Because of its oversize it had to have several horizontal and vertical folds to fit atlas size. Very wide margins. Some traces of age and use. But generally, especially because of its superb color quality, this map ihas a very good appearance. Small piece missing on upper right margin edge.

Woodcut from ãCosmographia" by Sebastian Muenster. Basel, ca. 1550. Very attractively hand-colored.

The river Rhein with all its tributeries from Switzerland, through the Western part of Austria, through France, Germany and Holland. The complete run of the Mosel river is a welcome side effect of this decorative maps into which Sebastian Muenster has also drawn mountains and forests.

The three maps were meant to be and are joined together to form a long oversize wall map. Map has general age toning and, in margins, traces of age and use and a few spots. As this map is extraordinary in size, it has several vertical folds to fit the original book size. Reverse side has the three titles repeated. The overall appearance is very good and attractive.

This very historical map shows the area of the Old Germanen in the middle of the 5th Centery. The names on the map are very old Celtic, Latin and Old Germanic. Almost in the center of the map is "Maguntia" = Mainz. In the upper left corner is an inset of the area of the Franks about 550 AD.

Map image is clean. In the beige outline and margins are scattered spots. Browning on outer margin edges.

On the leftside of the map is the Weser River with the Steinhuder Meer in the upper left. In the lower left in Dahlheim in Hessen and in the upper right is Garleben on the Mildda River. In the lower right are Gorleben, Harras and Frankenhausen near the Helm River. On the right side are Halberstadt, Quedlingburg and Ascherstleben. Braunschweig is the largest red dot in the upper area.

The centerfold on the map has been partially reinforced. Repairs on centerfold in upper and lower margins. Light browning along centerfold and minimal scattered spotting in margins. Condition is Much Better than Good.

"K. Württ. Oberamt Canstatt". Published by the K. Statistishen Landesamt 1895, with an outline around the area of Canstatt.

Canstatt is located in the almost in the center of this detailed map. Hohen Asperg is in the upper left corner and Möhringen in the lower left corner. In the upper right is Heidenhof and Hertmansweiler and in the lower right is Plochingen.

Map has light toning and and a narrow left margin. General condition is Almost Very Good.

The Province of Hanau around the time of 1858 is the central theme of this detailed map. It extends in the northeast to Rothemann and Ried and Motten. In the southeast is Tieneck and Zollberg. In the southwest is Schwanheim and Griesheim.Hanau is in the lower left part. In the northeast is Nauheim and Steinfurt. In the south is the Spessart. In the upper left is a chart showing ownerships in colors to match the areas on the map. In the lower right are colored lines to correspond with those on the map to illustrate the areas where various dialects are spoken.

The three vertical folds have light browning. The upper right part of the map has darker toning and a repaired tear in the margin corner. There are three small repaired tears along folds in the margins.General condition of the map is Better than Good.

Silesia

The east-oriented map shows the region with Posen and Breslau in the east and Landsberg an der Warte in the north. Kustrin, Frankfurt
an der Oder and the Lausitzer Neisse are in the west. In the south is Zittau and Liegnitz. The title cartouche is in the upper left corner. Four
small coats-of-arms are scattered on the map.

The map has light toning and in the upper corners are brown spots that reach a bit into map image. In the upper left corner is a number
written in brown ink that was part of the numbering system. Some cities are decently underlined in light brown ink. The general condition
is between Almost Very Good and Very Good!

This map is east oriented (north is on the left side). At the bottom of the map the Oder River "flows in" and "flows out" under the mileage legend in the upper right corner. In the lower right corner is Luben on the Kaltebach River. Above the coat-of-arms in the lower left is the town of Lissa (Leszno). At the top of the map are the Horla and Bartsch rivers and the town of Trachenberg. The towns of Wintzig and Herrenstadt are near the upper center of the map. Text in German on half of backside of map.

Map has wide margins with minimal spotting. On the map image are brownish spots from the map coloring that reseults when the map was folded in the atlas. Condition is otherwise Better than Good.

Breslau is located almost in the center of this Silesian map. In the upper left is Frankfurt on the Oder River. In the lower right is part of the Vistula River with Cracow on the edge. To the left of the decorative coat-of-arms in the upper right is the Wartha river. On the backside is text (in German) about the history of Silesia.

Wide margins with light browning on edges. Map has a repaired tear on lower margin edge on centerfold.Very minor scattered spotting. General condition is much Better than Good.
